Economic Journal - Wednesday, 5/20/2015

(as of 7:10 AM PST)

Stocks continue in this unusual trading pattern.  While markets hover around record highs creeping steadily higher in tiny increments and on low volume, one gets the feeling that we are in a calm before the storm.  Today US markets opened lower but near flat line on most indexes.  Economic data is light with the release of the Federal Reserve minutes taking the spotlight as analysts try to determine if an early summer interest rate rise is in the cards.  International markets are mixed with Greece again hogging the headlines as they struggle with interest rate payments coming do and little cash to make it right.  Oil and gold are both up slightly.  Summer doldrums seem to be taking hold early this year and investors are on the lookout for that one catalyst to breakout to the upside or for that black swan event to start the much overdue correction.
