Yesterday's small rally was a nice surprise given the lack of significant data. Perhaps easing international tensions were the catalyst. Today markets opened very quiet as well, with mixed profit reports and some concern over cautious guidance going forward. The jobless claims numbers came in slightly less than forecast but solid enough to show that the economic recovery appears on track. Europe's economic numbers were very disappointing showing that the lingering recession in the Eurozone might not yet be behind them. Trouble spots in the China recovery continue to worry analysts. Most indexes are up slightly while oil and gold continue to hover around flat-line. Stocks might drift lower based on more and more cautious guidance coming from corporate earnings announcements.
