Economic Journal - Monday, 8/11/14

(as of 7:10 AM PST)

Markets are up this morning with geopolitical pressures on the wane.  It seems we are in the midst of the summer doldrums.  There is not a lot of economic data this week and profit reports are winding down.  Things are very quiet.  The shadow of the Federal Reserve is likely to have an impact as economists continue to argue about potential interest rates hikes.  With a lack of a spark either to the positive or negative it will be interesting to see which way the pendulum swings.  I expect it will be hard to mount any significant rally given high stock valuations.  Gold and oil are down slightly, but near flatline...zzzzzzzz.
