Stocks are on the move higher for the second straight day as investors welcomed positive economic data and upbeat earnings reports from JP Morgan Chase and Goldman Sachs. June retail sales rose less than forecasted but most stores showed a boost in revenues. The Empire State Manufacturing index caught investors by surprise with activity picking up in July to the highest level in 4 years. Investors will be keying in on today's congressional testimony from Fed chairwoman Janet Yellen which is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am EST. Gold is up slightly while oil is down. Asian markets finished the day higher following solid gains on Wall Street yesterday. European markets are broadly lower.
